Ear Wick

PVA Dressings are specifically designed to aid in fluid management, providing effective control of fluid and drainage during and after ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat) and ophthalmic surgeries.

These dressings are intended to help control bleeding and support haemostasis, ensuring optimal outcomes in surgical settings.

1. Ear wick and Ear Pack

An Ear Wick and Ear Pack is a device made up of PVA (along with Nylon and/or Oxidized Cellulose in some variants) which is designed to control internal ear bleeding. The device is inserted into ear canal near the inflamed or injured skin where it expands and applies pressure against the source of bleeding and achieve haemostasis. It can also be used to administer medication such as antibiotics for the post-operative tissue healing.

Duration of Use:

Ear Wick & Pack: Short-term use (Less than 30 days)

Intended Purpose:

Ear Wick and Ear Packs are designed to control bleeding and achieve hemostasis near the inflamed or injured skin of ear canal after ENT surgery. They can be used for post operative tissue support. Ear Wicks and Ear Packs are also used for administration of medication such as antibiotics to the operative site.

Clinical Indications

After traumatic injury or invasive surgery in ENT treatment.

Otitis externa (for ear wick)

Stenosis of ear canal after ENT Surgery (for Ear Pack)

Safety Information & Contraindications

Safety

• Device needs to be inserted into ear cavity with care to avoid the rupture or damage   of nearby tissues.
• Do not reuse: if the device is reused, it may cause harmful effect or infection to patient.
• Do not resterilize – if the device is resterilize, it may cause harm or infection to patient
• due to Resterilization of device.
• Risk of Desterilization: It may be exposed to contamination which can cause infection to patient.
• Do not use the product if the packaging or the product is damaged. This is the only way to ensure the product is germ-free and functional.

Contraindications

While using the Ear Wick and Ear Pack, Acidic medications may cause a burning or stinging sensation. Device shall not be used on the patient allergic to device material or medication (antibiotic solution or ear drops). If there is presence of any anatomical defect or any otologic disease in ear canal, an ear wick or ear pack cannot be inserted.
